FAF Nationals: Royals bow out in Semi Final to SA Regional
Congratulations to the Kingston Royals for putting in a strong showing at the inaugural FAF National Championships in Adelaide.
The team felt very privileged to play in such amazing stadiums and to be a part of a well organised tournament.
The ladies started Day 1 strongly, defeating SA Regional 8-4, defeating FNQ 1-0 and taking a 3-3 draw from their match against SA Futsal.
Day 2 proved a lot more difficult for the ladies, with SA Regional defeating VFF 3-2 and SA Futsal defeating VFF 5-1. VFF however rebounded strongly in their second match of the day by defeating FNQ 2-1.
Day 3 was finals day, played at the amazing Titanium Security Arena, home of the Adelaide 36ers.
In a tough early match against 3rd place SA Regional, the ladies went down 1-0, just being unable to find the net and score a tying goal.
Disappointment initially for the ladies, but the team walked away with a sense of pride knowing it was their first ever go at a National Championship. Plenty of positives came from the tournament, with the team playing really sound defensively and developing a really solid structure and gameplan.
Congratulations to Louise McMullen who made the all star team and thus has received automatic selection for the 2017 Women's World Cup squad, with the World Cup to be played in Barcelona between November 18-26, 2017.
Finally, congratulations to the deserved champions SA Futsal, who won every match except for 1 draw against us on Day 1.
